63 Iraqis, 7 US Soldiers Killed on June 23, 2007

Iraq News Agency (INA):

The Iraq News Agency (INA) reported that Iraqis and a US soldier were killed on June , 2007.

Two people were killed and 18 were injured in a car bomb explosion in front of a hospital in Al-Hillah.

- A US military base in Al-Haqlaniya, south of Haditha, was attacked with mortars, Saturday afternoon.

- A high-ranking Iraqi counter-insurgency officer, called Tareq, was assassinated in Najaf.

- Ain Al-Tamer council member, Karim Abdul Ridha, and five other civilians were killed west of Najaf by gunmen posing as police.

- US helicopters killed 17 Iraqi fighters in Al-Khalis, near Ba'aqouba yesterday.

- 30 policemen were killed and injured in a suicide car bomb targeting a police station in the city of Al-Baghdadi, in Al-Anbar Province yesterday.

- Iraqi police announce finding 20 bodies of people executed by death squads in Baghdad.

- 25 people were killed, 36 were injured in various attacks.

- Aljazeera.net added that US forces killed seven Iraqi fighters in Ba'aqouba.

- US soldiers killed two people in a car in Tikrit because it was speeding and did not stop.

Roadside bombs in Iraq kill 7 troops

BAGHDAD (AP) -- 

Roadside bombs killed seven American troops in Iraq on Saturday, including four in a single strike outside Baghdad, the military said.

Roadside bombs killed four soldiers northwest of the capital, a U.S. airman in Tikrit, and two U.S. soldiers in eastern Baghdad whose unit has recently targeted bomb networks. In addition, a British soldier died Saturday of wounds from a roadside bombing the day before in the southern city of Basra.

The U.S. military said earlier Saturday that at least 55 Iraqi fighters have been killed and 23 detained since the start of Operation Arrowhead Ripper. It also said 16 weapons caches have been discovered, and 28 roadside bombs and 12 booby-trapped structures have been destroyed.
