Hamas announces a general amnesty on abducted Fateh leaders, and releases them QB arrest Fateh leaders, announce general amnesty for personnel [ 15/06/2007 - 01:23 PM ] GAZA, (PIC)-- The Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, has announced that its fighters have arrested nine of the most prominent Fateh leaders affiliated with the security apparatuses and the Fateh movement. Abu Obeida, the QB spokesman said on Friday that they have arrested a large number of leaders and elements, nine of them leaders who were involved in murders and crimes against members of Hamas and the general public. He named them as brigadier general Jamal Kayed chief of National Security, brigadier general Mesbah al-Buhaisi, commander of the Presidential Guards, Hamuda Sheikh Ali, deputy commander of the Presidential Guards and Tawfiq Abu Khousa, Fateh spokesman, Majed Abu Shammala, Fateh secretary in the Gaza Strip, Abdul-A'al al-Ghul, high ranking officer of the Presidential Guards, Saber al-Bhaisi, nicknamed the butcher, who is also a senior officer in the Presidential Guards and Muhammad al-Buhaisi chief the PA intelligence. He said that these leaders will be interrogated then handed to former Fateh secretary in the Gaza strip Ahmad Hillis. The Quds Brigades also announced a general amnesty according to which it will release a large number of security personnel who were captured during the confrontations. Meanwhile Fateh gunmen kidnapped and executed a Hamas leader in Nablus in retaliation to the execution by the Qassam Brigades of a Fateh commander in Gaza. A number of Hamas leaders were also kidnapped by Fateh gunmen in Bethlehem, that is in addition to attacks on a number of Hamas institutions in various towns in the West Bank. Barghouthi described the execution of Fateh detainees as "unreasonable," adding "how can anyone threaten a PLC [Palestinian Legislative Council] member, or a security serviceman, or a Fateh leader?" These appeals came amidst unprecedented tension between the two rival factions as a Palestine TV newsreader announced that "Hamas militias are threatening to execute seven Fateh leaders in the Gaza Strip, Jamal Kayid, Tawfiq Abu Khousa, Misbah Al-Himsi, Faysal Abu Shahla, Khaldoun Hijjo, Abdul A'al Al-Ghool, Majdi Al-Ghool, and Majid Abu Shammala." Immediately after the announcement, the Fateh-affiliated Al-Aqsa Brigades West Bank leader, Abu 'Uday, said, "If the Hamas militias execute Fateh leaders in the Gaza Strip, I will give orders immediately to the Al-Aqsa Brigades to execute Hamas leaders in the West Bank, and if they do not believe me, let them watch." The leader of the Al-Aqsa Brigades in the northern West Bank, Zakariyya Zubeidi, said, "If Hamas executes any Fateh leader in the Gaza Strip, a Hamas leader will be executed in the West Bank immediately. Hamas is banned in the West Bank and its members have to turn their weapons in to the Al-Aqsa Brigades or the security services, if they want to keep their lives." The spokesperson of the Al-Qassam Brigades, Abu 'Ubayda, announced immediately following the Al-Aqsa Brigades' declarations that the Fateh detainees will be released within minutes. Abu 'Ubayda said that the amnesty will take immediate effect and the detainees of Fateh will be handed over to the Fateh leader, Ahmad Hillis. Ahmad Hillis has now received the Fateh leaders and members of the security services who were abducted by the Al-Qassam Brigades in the Gaza Strip a few hours ago.
