47 Iraqis, 3 British Soldiers, 2 US Soldiers Reportedly Killed on July 20, 2007, Including 17 Executed by Death Squads Today and 23 Yesterday The Iraq News Agency (INA) reported the following news on July 20, 2007. - A US Hummer military vehicle was destroyed in Al-Baya'a neighborhood, west of Baghdad. - 3 British soldiers were killed in Basrah, 2 US soldiers were killed east of Baghdad, 6 Iraqi soldiers were killed south of Baghdad. - 17 bodies of Iraqis executed by death squads were found in Baghdad. - Denmark evacuated 200 Iraqis, who worked with Danish troops, and their families to Denmark for fear of reprisals against them after the withdrawal of NATO occupation forces from Iraq. - Colonel Fares Khalaf Fares, a former Iraqi intelligence officer was assassinated today together with another person with him in Al-Dhulou'iyah. - 23 bodies were found yesterday for Iraqis executed by death squads. - Commander of Al-Iskandariyah police, Salam Shannon, was killed yesterday after being kidnapped. *** AP Headline: U.S., British soldiers killed in Iraq By HAMED AHMED Associated Press Writer Jul 20, 2007, 11:16 AM EDT BAGHDAD (AP) -- Iraqi fighters killed three British troops and two American soldiers in separate attacks in southern and central Iraq, coalition officials said Friday. Several British soldiers also were wounded in the Thursday mortar attack on their base at the airport in the southern city of Basra, the British military said. The two Americans were killed in separate attacks Thursday in the Baghdad area, the U.S. said. The British deaths bring the number of British soldiers killed in the Iraq war to 162. The much larger American force has lost at least 3,630 service members, according to an Associated Press count. In Friday's attacks, four people were killed and three wounded when clashes broke out in the village of Ajemi near Khalis, 50 miles north of Baghdad, the provincial police said. --- Associated Press correspondent Bassem Mroue contributed to this report.
