Bishop Hanna and Archimandrite Basal receive Jordanian citizenship

Jordan - Ma'an - 

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has granted Bishop Atallah Hanna and Archimandrite Milatios Basal Jordanian citizenship.

This came in a recent decision by the Department of the Royal Jordanian monarch, King Abdullah II, who bestowed Jordanian nationality on Bishop Atallah Hanna, the Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Church in Jerusalem, and Archimandrite Milatios Basal, head of Greek Orthodox Church of Ramallah. They were informed of this decision and they formally headed to the Jordanian capital, Amman to officially receive Jordanian nationality and the Jordanian passport.

The Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem follows the Jordanian laws of 1958, and in accordance with this law, all the Patriarchal clergy must carry Jordanian passports and without it, they cannot be members of the Greek Orthodox holy community in the Holy Land.
