DAMASCUS, (PIC)--

The Palestinian return assembly (PRA) along with the Palestinian Return Center (PRC) have announced that an "international conference to safeguard the right of return" under the slogan, "Palestine is an integral part, and its people are undivided", is expected to be held 29-31 August in the Syrian capital Damascus.

The conference will be hosting eminent academic, intellectual and civil figures from Palestine and Arab countries, including Azmi Bishara, Salman Abu Sitta, Majed Al-Zeer, and Bilal Al-Hasan, amongst other notables such as the secretaries general of the Arab National Conference and the Arab Parties.

In this regard, Tarek Hammoud, the secretary general of PRA and the chairman of the preparatory committee of the conference stated: "This conference represents a big step in the activity of Palestinian refugees around the world in general and in Syria in particular, in terms of enlightenment and support it will give for the strategic march in the defense of the right of return."

He highlighted the importance of holding the conference in Syria; for it hosts half a million Palestinian refugees most of them are concentrated in the host capital Damascus.

Regarding the objectives of this conference, he said that "the goal is to strengthen the culture of return at both the academic and the popular levels, and to reflect an image overriding attempts to market suspicious projects and documents to usurp the rights of the Palestinian people."
