Date: 15 / 07 / 2007 Time: 10:48

Jenin – Ma'an –

The prominent Jenin-based leader of the Fateh-affiliated Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Zakaria Al-Zubaidi, on Sunday announced, "The Al-Aqsa Matyrs Brigades activists have signed a pledge to cease attacks against Israel."

"Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades won't be an obstacle to any political project aimed at solving the Palestinian question," Al-Zubaidi emphasized.

In a telephone call to Ma'an, Al-Zubaidi added that the Brigades' combatants, whose names were included in the amnesty list, have committed to stay at the Palestinian security HQs, waiting for the ongoing political and administrative processes which will guarantee their freedom.

Israeli authorities yesterday announced an amnesty for some 178 "wanted" Al-Aqsa Brigades' members, affiliated to President Abbas' Fateh faction.

Israel agrees to stop targeting 178 wanted Palestinian resistance fighters

Saturday July 14, 2007 15:30 by Ghassan Bannoura - IMEMC News ghassanb at imemc dot org

Palestinian resistance fighters told Palestinian news agencies on Saturday that a deal was reached between the Palestinian and Israeli governments in which that the Israeli army would stop hunting and targeting of 178 Palestinian resistance fighters from Al-Aqsa Martyrs  Brigades of Fateh.

According to the Ma'an Palestinian news agency the list of fighters includes Zakaria Al-Zubaidi, the head of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades in the West Bank, and Kamal Renam one of the leaders of the Brigades.

This deal also states that the Palestinian resistance fighters (of Fateh) should stop military actions against Israeli targets, lay down their arms, and join the Palestinian security forces in the West Bank, Ma'an reported.

Meanwhile, Palestinian fighters who will cooperate with the PA security forces and won't be involved with armed resistance activists for three months will be allowed to leave Area A and be able to travel abroad. According to the Oslo agreements, the West Bank is divided into three zones -- A, B, and C.

Zone A, which is under complete Palestinian control, includes the cities of Jenin, Nablus, Tulkarem, Qalqilia, Ramallah and Bethlehem.

Territories in Zone B are subjected to Palestinian control in regards to civil issues, while Israel handles security issues there. Israel has full control over lands and inhabitants in Zone C, which also covers uninhabited areas, Jewish settlements, and military installations.

During the Israeli invasion of the West Bank in 2002, the Israeli occupation army seized all the areas, including Zones A and B.

Moreover, Palestinian Chief negotiator, Dr. Sa'eb Erekat, said on Saturday that talks were still underway on the security arrangements, part of which would "end the hunt for these people which the Israelis deem as "wanted."

Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, and Israeli prime Minster, Ehud Olmert, are to meet on Monday and security issues will be on the meeting agenda, Israeli sources reported.

Ha'aretz: IOF to focus on Hamas and Islamic Jihad activists

[ 15/07/2007 - 11:18 AM ]

NAZARETH, (PIC)--

An Israeli official source confirmed, in a statement to "Ha'aretz" newspaper published on Sunday, that the agreement on ceasing the pursuit of 180 Fateh-affiliated members wanted by Israel in the West Bank aims to remove their names from the Israeli intelligence's hit list "in order to focus its efforts on Hamas and Islamic Jihad."

In the same context, Palestinian sources revealed that Fateh-affiliated members, whose names were blacklisted by Israel, had started since Saturday to sign an affidavit not to participate in operations against the IOF troops and to abide by the agreement's terms.

Some of the agreement's points were: First, whose name is included in the list must sign an undertaking, under the supervision of Palestinian security apparatuses, to stop any operations against the IOF troops. Second, the pursued should stay at the PA security headquarters for a whole week, without leave, press sources quoted a Fateh-affiliated official as saying.

According to Palestinian sources, the IOA is applying its Zionist policy of divide and rule among the Palestinians and seeking to eliminate any chance for reconciliation between Hamas and Fateh.
