AL-KHALIL, (PIC)--

A Palestinian political prisoner called Omar Masalmah, 23, from Beit Awa, Al-Khalil district, died in the Israeli occupation jail of Ramle as a result of medical negligence, according to Nafha society for the defense of prisoners' and human rights.

According to statistics, more than 11,000 Palestinian political prisoners are imprisoned in Israeli occupation jails, about 1,200 of them suffer from various diseases, some of them as a result of torture, and 191 died due to medical negligence.

In another context, Rafik Hamdona the spokesman for the prisoners and ex-prisoners society, warned of using internationally prohibited tools to repress and subjugate the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

"During this month, Israeli soldiers stormed the Nafha prison three times, at midnight, and used new weapons containing narcotic drugs to suppress Palestinian prisoners, which poses a threat to their lives," Hamdona stated, adding that the IOF troops persist in the policy of strip search and in the use of various types of repression and torture in prisons. He said that the prisoners are experiencing "slow death".

For its part, the Palestinian political prisoners club called on local human rights institutions to work on closing the Hawara detention camp, northern West Bank, where 50 Palestinian prisoners are deprived of the simple conditions of life, which contradicts with international norms and conventions regarding prisons and detention centers.

The Palestinian political prisoners detained in Hawara detention camp informed the prisoners club's lawyer about the poor health conditions in the camp, where they relieve themselves in water bottles; they also complained that the IOF troops storm their cells several times at night.

For its part, the Nafha society confirmed that the Hawara prisoners had returned full meals a few days ago in protest at putting grime and cigarette butts in the meal served.

In the context of arbitrary measures practiced in Israeli occupation jail against Palestinian prisoners, the family of Mohamed Musa, 24, from Beit Jala, appealed to the Palestinian officials, human rights organizations and the International Committee of the Red Cross to intervene urgently in order to help their imprisoned son who is bedridden in the Ramle prison hospital where he suffers blood poisoning by 71%.

For her part, "Mandela" institute's lawyer, Buthaina Dokmak confirmed, after her visit to a number of Israeli prisons, that the Israeli prisons authority escalates its repressive measures against the Palestinian prisoners and against their families during their visits.

For his part, director of the center for prisoners' studies, Raafat Hamdona appealed to the civilized world, the parliaments of democratic countries, the Red Cross and human rights organizations to open an immediate investigation into Israeli practices inside those prisons which violate the Geneva Convention, and the minimum needs of human rights.

Note to readers:

The Israeli settlements as well as the Land-Grab, Apartheid Wall in the Palestinian occupied territories have been built illegally on confiscated Palestinian lands. These represent a major violation of international law, Geneva Conventions, and they obstruct reaching a peaceful resolution for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The Israeli occupation forces abduct and kidnap Palestinians from their homes on daily basis. Most media refer to these abductions and kidnappings as arrests, which is inaccurate and not true as the Israeli occupation government has no jurisdiction over Palestinian citizens inside their own territories.
