Kucinich in Maine Saturday and Sunday

PORTLAND, ME – 

Democratic Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) will campaign in Maine on Saturday and Sunday, August 25 and 26. His schedule is as follows:

SATURDAY, AUGUST 25, 2007

9:00 - 9:45 a.m. Press conference at the media tent, Kennebunkport Consolidated School, 25 School Street, Kennebunkport, to discuss the day’s rally and march for peace. Potential participants along with Rep. Kucinich are:

• Charlie Clements, president and CEO of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee
• Col. Anne Wright, one of several high-ranking State Department officials who resigned in protest of the Iraq war.
• Former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney.
• Peace activist Cindy Sheehan
• Melida and Carlos Arredondo, Gold Star Parents, co-founders of People United for Peace and members of Gold Star Families Speak Out and Gold Star Families for Peace

11:25 a.m. Kucinich addresses the rally prior to the march. Rally is held at the Consolidated School.

Noon to 1:30 p.m. Kucinich and his wife, Elizabeth, participate in the March for Peace. The route will go west from the school on Route 9, make a left onto Maine St., a quick right onto Elm St. and then a left onto Ocean Ave. It will then travel up Ocean Ave to the intersection with Summit Ave., near the Bush compound at Walker's Point. The march route is exactly two miles.

2:30 to 3:00 p.m. Additional press availability at Consolidated School

5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Invitation-only fund raiser, Ogunquit, ME

SUNDAY, AUGUST 26, 2007

8:30 - 10:30 a.m. Meet/Greet with LGBT community. This event is open to the public at Roberto's Restaurant, 200 Shore Rd., Ogunquit

10:30 to 10:50 a.m. Interviews with local media.

Noon to 2 p.m. Health care forum at Woodfords Club, 179 Woodford Street, Portland, ME. Kucinich, co-author and co-sponsor of HR 676, the Conyers/Kucinich universal health care bill, wants to hear about people’s health care experiences, particularly as they relate to insurance issues and denial of care. He is especially interested in hearing from cancer survivors and families of cancer victims, as he prepares for the LIVESTRONG Presidential Cancer Forum, sponsored by the Lance Armstrong Foundation, on Monday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Rep. Kucinich also plans to talk with business owners who find it hard to provide health care coverage for their workers and with union members who are often faced with balancing wage increases against health care benefits during their negotiating sessions.

2:30 to 2:45 p.m. Rep. Kucinich tapes a Labor Day greeting. (Location to be determined.)

3:00 p.m. Depart for Cedar Rapids IA.
