29 Iraqis Killed in an August 21, 2007 Report The Iraq News Agency (INA) reported the following news for August 21, 2007. - A suicide bomber detonated his bomb belt at a line of police recruits in Falloujah, killing himslef and injuring seven of them. On Monday (yesterday): - 13 Iraqis were killed in a Sadr City car bombing, 20 were injured. - 3 were killed, 11 were injured by a motorbike bombing in Al-Russafi Square, in Baghdad. - One person was killed and three were injured by a mortar attack in Al-Ameen area. - US-led Iraqi forces arrested 50 Iraqis in Al-Latifiyah, south of Baghdad, accused of resistance. - 3 policemen were killed and two were injured in an attack on their convoy by gunmen, north of Tikrit. - 2 senior police officers, who are also brothers, were killed in Beiji. *** AP Haeadline: Iraqi Gunmen Kill Baby, 6 Others in Home By STEVEN R. HURST Associated Press Writer Aug 21, 2007, 3:33 PM EDT BAGHDAD (AP) -- In mounting bloodshed south of Baghdad, suspected militiamen stormed into a home Tuesday and gunned down seven family members, including a baby being bounced on her mother's shoulder. The brutal attack south of Baghdad killed seven members of 70-year-old Khayrallah Salman's family. He ran a small grocery in Mahaweel, 35 miles south of Baghdad, and died along with six relatives, including the 6-month-old girl, a 12-year-old girl and two women. A son and daughter-in-law were wounded, said Babil province police Capt. Muthanna Khalid. A witness said the baby's mother, who survived, was bouncing the child on her shoulder when the gunmen opened fire after breaking into the house about 8:30 a.m. The witness would not allow use of her name, fearing retribution.
