52 Iraqis Killed in Initial August 18, 2007 Reports

The US news agency, the Associated Press, has not reported any deaths in Iraq today. However, Iraqi newspapers and news agency have reported many deaths. 

The following reports are not exclusive. They come from two Iraqi unofficial sources, which makes it hard to find a conclusive death count for Iraqi victims. However, it is certain that the real death count is much bigger than the following media reports.

The Iraq News Agency (INA) reported the following news for Saturday, August 18, 2007.

- Nine Iraqis were killed, 40 were injured, 43 were arrested in various Iraqi today.

- Clashes erupted between the Mahdi Army and US forces, in Al-Kut.

-  Seven people were killed and 33 were injured in in a mortar attack in  Diayla.

- One person was killed, three were injured in Al-Ghadeer neighborhood, in Baghdad.

- Twenty-two bodies of Iraqis executed by death squads were found in Baghdad, on Friday.

- Thirty-eight Iraqi fighters and three civilians were killed.

- A policeman was killed in Al-Doura neighborhood by a roadside bomb targeting a police patrol.

- Four Iraqi fighters were killed by US-led forces, north of Ba'aqouba, on Thursday.

- US forces also killed 13 Iraqi fighters north of Baghdad.

Sotaliraq newspaper reported the following:

- Four Iraqis were killed, 40 were injured in two Kirkuk explosions.

- Ten Iraqi fighters were killed by US and Kurdish forces in Hemreen, nortrh of Ba'aqouba.

- 800 Iraqi children between 10 and 17 years old are prisoners in US prisons in Iraq.

- Ten people were killed in a mortar attack, in Khalis, in Dayala province.
