"Terrorism" & "Islamo-Fascism" Propaganda Campaigns
|
Conclusion
Labeling Palestinians as "terrorists" as well as associating Islam with fascism are propaganda tactics, which aim at smearing targeted groups and dehumanizing them so that the American people may tolerate their persecution. Islam is the anti-thesis of fascism, that's why associating them is erroneous and inaccurate to say the least. Bringing such anti-Islamic campaigns to college campuses and universities is persecution and harassment of innocent Muslim American students and professors. It is a violation of their civil rights and must stop. Religion has nothing to do with the conflicts of our world today, which are mainly related to secular factors such as resources, hegemony, and other geo-strategic factors. Such propaganda campaigns do not serve social peace. Actually, they incite against innocent and law-abiding American citizens. At the same time, such campaigns bring more harm to the United States abroad, particularly among the 1.5 billion Muslims around the world. I hope and pray that more student groups, such as the Outspoken Allies of Emory, will come forward in other college campuses to educate students about this important issue. I finally hope that the organizers of this campaign in Emory will re-consider the issue and not allow the week to be a forum of attacks on their fellow Americans and their great religion. Thank you.
